Can years of consuming large amounts of alcohol affect your kidneys function or cause kidney disease?
The alcohol itself should not cause kidney damage, but it may certainly affect overall health in ways that may lead to kidney disease. Also alcohol consumption may be accompanied by other behaviors, such as smoking or overeating, that may ultimately contribute to kidney disease.
