Random Urine Albumin/Creatinine Ratio11/17/2010 |
I had a urine test for random urine microalbumin. My result was 22 ug microalbumin/mg creatinine. The lab report did not indicate a normal range for my test. My physician said that was because this was a random urine collection and not a 24 hour urine collection. So what does this result mean?
A value 30 to 300 mg of albumin/g of creatinine suggests that albumin excretion is between 30 and 300 mg/day and that microalbuminuria is present. Two to 3 specimens over 6 months is required to confirm this. Your result was given in micro units of albumin and mg of creatinine. I adjusted for mg of albumin and g of creatinine. So your result falls below the range of values considered abnormal since it is=22mg/g.
