Anorexia with Normal T3 T4 and Low Thyroxine
18 yr old female recovering from eating disorder with low TSH, however T3 T4 are normal. Hair is falling out, constantly hungry, difficulty gaining weight, shaking feeling comes and goes, difficulty sleeping. Should I see an endocrinologist?
The fact that the T3 and T4 are normal makes it unlikely that your symptoms are being caused by the thyroid. The current recommendation is not to treat patients with a low TSH and a normal T3 and T4 unless the TSH is persistently less than 0.1.
