Sore Bump in Back of Mouth/Sore Throat01/25/2011 |
I`ve had a very low grade fever, sore throat (painful swallowing ), and slight headache for two days. This morning I noticed a bump at the back of my mouth that is white on top and very red around it. I went to my Dr who did a strep test which was negative. She said I have an upper respiratory infection and prescribed a Z-Pak. Could this be something else?
I am glad you had your physician evaluate the problem. With respect to the “White coated Bump, that is well circumscribed” location would be helpful in identifying the possible explanation. It could be a pharyngeal tonsil or if it is on the tongue it could be a vallate papilla.
I would not worry and would recommend contacting your physician if symptoms persist or fever worsens.
