Question:

My baby is 1 1/5 year old. We did some tests. Report says there is charcot leyden crystals present in stool. What is meaning of this? Is it dangerous to health?

Answer:

Charcot Leyden crystals in the stool may have no biological significance. They are thought to be associated with allergic disease. There are far better measures of intestinal inflammation currently available if there is concern that a child has inflammatory disease of the intestine including fecal calprotectin.
