09/02/1998

Question:

What can I do to prevent recurrent bouts of intestinal occlusion, sometimes called small bowel obstruction, or volvulus? Do you know of anything in terms of diet or exercise? Where in the medical literature can I read about research results on this problem? Thanks for your advice.

Because this question refers to a specific dietary need it has been referred to The Ask an Expert Diet & Nutrition. Look for your answer there in a couple of days.
