What is lupus?
Lupus is an abbreviated name for Systemic Lupus Erythematosus which is an autoimmune disorder that can involve many body systems and occurs primarily in young women.
An in-depth description of this disease is beyond the scope of this question format. Health care consumer information can be obtained from Arthritis Foundation chapters such as the Ohio River Valley chapter in Cincinnati. Technical descriptions can be found in textbooks such as the Oxford Textbook of Rheumatology. The Ohio River Valley chapter has a copy of this book.
