How is Parkinson`s Disease usually diagnosed?
The diagnosis is based on clinical findings: the history as given by the patient and a neurological exam. An MRI scan can be useful to rule out other causes, but cannot rule in PD. PET scans can be useful in a research setting. The acid test is a good response to medications such as Sinemet. See the FAQ for more details.
