Titinnus

05/14/1999

Question:

does titinnus ever go away?

Answer:

Whether it will ever go away depends on what is causing it. Tinnitis is almost always associated with hearing loss, sometimes profound but sometimes very mild. If the hearing loss is reversible, and resolves, the the tinnitis usually goes away as well. However, especially with neurosensory hearing loss, the the tinnitis usually remains.

In general, people with tinnitis usually adapt to it over time.
